the lost ones

“the lost ones” is a durational performance project featuring a range of performers that draws upon botany, performance, fashion, and craft. An ongoing, multiyear project begun in 2015 and designed to run for a five-year period, “the lost ones” has featured fourteen performances and ten performers to date. In the project, a “seamstress”/ performer embroiders her gown, which is covered with embroidery hoops, each framing an image of a rare or extinct plant. Participants gather to stitch alongside her, conversing and reflecting on the plants and their ecological status. Events often include speakers who participate in the stitching while facilitating conversations about man’s impact on biodiversity. including the effect of global warming.
