To qualify to join the Heroes in the Rough organization, you need to have a minimum of 50% disability rating from the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Applications are submitted to Heroes in the Rough, we review the applications in the order in which they are received. As we obtain additional sponsors, it helps to bring more Disabled Veterans into the program.

We are supported by sponsorship from local businesses, organizations, and donations. You will be required to participate (i.e., volunteer) in sponsored-run tournaments and fundraising events. We know there are issues that come up where you cannot participate and it is up to the individual to let the group know if you will not be available. More than three failures to appear when asked, will be grounds for removal from the group. We need everyone to volunteer; I can't stress this enough!

We have, throughout the year, Fundraisers and we appreciate all Heroes in the Rough participating. We need to know as soon as possible about your participation in the Fundraiser. Remember, it is our sponsors who usually have these fundraisers which help our organization raise money for our benefit.

Our organization is about building friendship, comradeship, helping each other, and having fun in group outings and golf clinics.

We have golf clinics twice/month on Saturdays and it is supported by Craig Stoudnor, PGA Golf Professional. He volunteers his own time so we can all benefit from his instruction and expertise and also makes the game of golf more enjoyable and fun for the veterans. If you are unable to attend the golf clinic, please contact Craig on his cell at 847-778-7943 as soon as possible if you can't make it.

We consider our group supportive of veterans that help each other when needed. We frown on people being or having a negative personality. It is not conducive to the encouragement and positivity that we are trying to attain. Remember, membership in the Heroes in the Rough is a privilege, not a right.

Additionally, there is a phone App (heroes golf) loaded with information on outings, clinics, golfing schedules, so it would behoove you to check the App for updates and additional information.
