Cruisin' the Piedmont
Why are we Cruisin'?
Straight Talk Support Group operates a transitional house for men who have been released from prison. We connect them to many resources and also assist residents in finding housing once they transition from our program. Being justice-involved individuals, there are usually barriers to securing housing. Often, apartment complexes cannot inform applicants of this potential barrier before they submit an application and pay the application fee. STSG's goal for Cruisin' the Piedmont is to raise funds to cover housing application and utility set-up fees and to assist with security deposits. By covering these costs, STSG reduces the financial risk in applying for independent and permanent housing. So, lace up your sneakers and check your brakes, and get ready to Cruise the Piedmont with Straight Talk Support Group!
Are you and Your Team up to the Crusin’ the Piedmont Challenge?
The Challenge begins September 22 and ends December 21 and is to walk, run, or bike the 307 miles of the “Piedmont Section” of North Carolina’s Mountain to Sea Trail (MST). STSG is located in the Piedmont Section of the MST so we thought this would be an appropriate and popular challenge.
The MST is a true jewel of our beautiful state, and the MST site describes it as “North Carolina’s state hiking trail, which stretches 1175 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks, stopping at many of our state’s most beautiful places along the way.”

Why Cruise with STSG?
STSG's Mission is to be a voice of the community that listens, informs, supports and empowers families and friends of the incarcerated and returning citizens. We want to offer our residents at our transitional housing 360 degree care, that goes past providing housing, to help their reentry to society go as smoothly as possible.
STSG provides residents of our transitional house full case management, connections with many community partners for mental health support, physical health providers, substance abuse counseling, employment guidance, computer education, and more. STSG meets the residents where they are and fits our program to the needs of each resident, to provide comprehensive care and support throughout our program.
