Gender Inclusivity in Lactation Support Webinar #1
LGBTQ and You - Understanding Inclusive Healthcare for ALL Families
Description: The goal of this webinar is to provide the learners with overall knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community and the particular needs the community has within the context of healthcare. It is important for all healthcare professionals to understand how to best care for this growing population of people and families. Participants of this education will learn about some relevant history of the LGBTQ+ community within healthcare. They will also learn about appropriate inclusive language and terms, including pronouns and prefixes, used by the LGBTQ+ community, and the significance of this inclusive language/terms within the community. Inclusive terms, acts, and examples of chestfeeding and bodyfeeding will be introduced in this webinar so the learners will have language to expand their current understanding of how the human lactation field and the LGBTQ+ community can come together to best meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ community in healthcare going forward.
