Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, life-shortening genetic disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems, making it increasingly hard to breathe as the disease progresses. Training to run or participate in an endurance event takes the kind of effort that people living with cystic fibrosis must endure every day just to breathe. Exercise has been shown to reduce the rate of decline in lung function,
help clear mucus from the lungs, increase appetite, and improve overall
endurance in people with cystic fibrosis. Team 65ROSES members have grown to appreciate the strength and perseverance of the children and adults living with CF. It is truly a marathon disease!
Team 65ROSES is a program of Miles for Cystic Fibrosis, an Atlanta-based non-profit that encourages and supports exercise and physical activity for individuals living with cystic fibrosis through our BreatheStrong exercise grant program. In response to COVID-19, Miles for CF now provides critical needs assistance for people with CF and their families who have lost income because of the pandemic.
