Join us in supporting the East Village Neighbors Community Fridge and Pantry!
In October 2020 the East Village Neighbors Community Fridge and Pantry was launched outside S'MAC at 197 First Avenue @ 12th St. The fridge is open 24/7 to anyone hungry and in need. The community fridge motto is "Take what you need; leave what you can". Volunteers drop off food from local establishments and neighbors leave what they can. But it's not enough.
The fridge has exposed the critical need for fresh food in the East Village - we've estimated we're feeding upwards of 2,000 people a week from the fridge and pantry.
We've been absolutely floored by the neighborhood's generosity in donating money for food and also in stocking the fridge - but we're almost out of funds. We've been organizing large, weekly deliveries of fresh food in order to make sure residents have a selection of healthy food, but we'll have to stop them in a few weeks if we don't raise more money.
Please support us today - every dollar counts and any contribution is extremely appreciated. You can also support our cause by signing up to become a fundraiser and reaching out to your friends and family. Donate here or through our Venmo @eastvillageneighbors
Thank you for stepping up and helping your neighbors through the East Village Neighbors Community Fridge and Pantry! You are the change we need to see!
