Diane needed to move from her rental home when her roommate moved out, leaving her with a rent payment of $1,700. Knowing she couldn't cover the bill on her own, Diane began working with an Advocate at The Factory to find a new place to live. There were very few affordable housing options available to Diane and she had pets to consider. After a long period of searching, her Advocate heard about a cabin which had opened up at the Redwood Lodges.
Diane had lived in her previous home for 20 years and had accumulated many personal items. She also had several physical ailments which would make it difficult to lift and carry boxes. Her connections had dwindled and she was overwhelmed by the monumental task before her. The Factory pulled together a team to help on moving day and she was able to take most of her belongings to her new home. A local church showed up with several trucks and a crew of people to help Diane finish moving her larger items. In a matter of an hour, everything was packed up and on its way to Diane's new home.
"I really love my little place, I don't need a lot of room. It's very tiny, but it's enough for me.
It's still hard for me to make ends meet, I do still struggle. I have to do it one day at a time. I am picking myself back up."
Diane is now settled into her new home at Redwood Lodges. She is able to pay an affordable rent bill each month and keep her pets close by. Since her move, Diane has been wanting to become more engaged in her community, she has even started attending the church which helped her move.
