Next Stop, Fault Radio!
Fault Radio is becoming a station and we need your help!!
Fault Radio was conceived 4 years ago, and so much has happened since. Powered by countless volunteer hours, labor, and your financial contributions, we’ve been able to stream over 1,000 shows from more than 200 locations and produce 3 successful Shifting Plates record fairs. In addition to our streams, we’ve featured new releases, local artists, and venues through articles, interviews, guest mixes, merchandise, and other collaborations.
In response to the pandemic, we immediately pivoted our platform in April 2020 to host home broadcasts by sharing our expertise and providing technical support to artists. Through these creative approaches to streaming, we were able to empower artists, broaden our programming, and maintain a sense of connection within our community. We are now happily returned to in-person broadcasts from some of our favorite venues and are excited to progress our platform even further.
As we approach our fourth year anniversary, we are thrilled to announce that Fault Radio is ready to take root at a brick-and-mortar space at the edge of SF’s Chinatown and historic Financial District! We envision Fault Radio’s station as a hub for sharing music and knowledge, but also a chill place to kick it with like-minded folks. In addition to expanding our regular programming, we are excited to host a variety of events. We plan to organize workshops and talks, provide studio hours with access to our gear, and showcase local makers through collaborative pop-ups. We want to emphasize that we are dedicated to making this space inclusive for all–a safe and supportive space for community enrichment, authentic expression, and co-creation.
As we initiate this major upgrade, we are asking for your support by donating to our fundraising campaign. Our goal is to reach $20,000 to be able to open our doors in May 2022. This amount covers renovation costs, permits, supplies, equipment, security, and operational costs. We’ve never asked for money on this scale before, and while it feels somewhat uncomfortable, we believe passionately in the ever-evolving platform of Fault Radio and that this new space will allow us to actualize our full potential.
If Fault Radio has given you a platform for your art, supported your product or small business, connected you with the community, introduced you to new friends, and/or shared music and mixes you love, now is the time to give back to Fault Radio!
We appreciate every member of our community and every donation. If your financial situation allows you the freedom, please consider donating generously to support our vision. We are a 501(c)3 organization under Intersection of the Arts, and your donation is tax-deductible. Help us maximize donations through corporate matching if your employer offers this perk. In addition to financial contributions, we are urging our supporters to please share the fundraising campaign on social media, and with friends, colleagues, and others who believe in keeping SF weird; and local!
If you’d like to learn more or have any questions, please do not hesitate in reaching out.
We look forward to broadcasting and hosting you all at the station soon.
With endless gratitude,
Fault Radio Team
