About Black Agency
Through community education, partnerships, resource development, and resourcing, the Long Beach Black Worker Center (LB BWC, Black Agency) works together with the community to build Black worker power, raise political consciousness, and broaden family-supportive career pathways and workplace protections for Black workers in Long Beach, CA. The LB BWC promotes worker rights, addresses opportunities for Black community members to tackle systemic anti-Blackness in the workforce, and provides tools for Black workers to organize around conditions that impact their lives.
With racial justice in focus, the LB BWC aims to facilitate and develop direct pathways for Black workers to access good-paying jobs and establish a more prosperous economic future for our communities. As a partner in the #1000 Strong campaign alongside the Los Angeles BWC, the LB BWC will help to secure 1000 quality jobs for Black workers in the greater Los Angeles area, specifically in the public sector, creating direct pathways for Black LA County residents. Founded in 2023, in collaboration with the Southern California Black Worker Hub and the Los Angeles Black Worker Center, the LB BWC is an initiative of the Black Agency. It is fiscally sponsored by the National Food Chain Workers Alliance.
