About 2023-2024 Campaign

Contra Costa Midrasha's Hamsa Fund is the East Bay's Jewish Teen Philanthropy Board. It provides teen members with the opportunity to learn how to run their own philanthropic foundation and get hands-on experience addressing problems they see in their community. Teens meet monthly to learn about fundraising, choose a mission statement, research non-profits, fundraise, and distribute funds. Each school year the Hamsa Fund raises thousands of dollars, making a difference both globally and locally.

This year the Hamsa Fund's mission is:

to support at-risk youth in the Bay Area through the funding of non-profit organizations that work towards securing housing & job opportunities, and towards providing access to education & mental health resources.

In light of the ongoing rise of Antisemitic attacks in the United States, the Hamsa Fund will focus additionally on fighting & advocating against Antisemitism by supporting the Bay Area Jewish Community Relations Council.

This year (2023-24) the Hamsa Fund will invite relevant non-profits to apply for grants who address these needs. The teens are currently evaluating which organizations to fund for this year. Organizations under consideration include, but are not limited to:

Larkin Street Youth https://larkinstreetyouth.org/

CASA Contra Costa https://www.cccocasa.org/
Fresh Lifeline for Youth https://flyprogram.org/

Youth Uprising https://www.youthuprising.org/

Later this Spring the Hamsa Fund's members will decide which organizations to fund.  100% of donations go to the teen's non-profit grant-making.

By donating, you're making a difference in the world and helping our teens learn deeply about the philanthropic process. Thank you!
