About SOLD OUT! A Musical Evening with Laurence Juber
Please join Guitars and Ukes in the Classroom for a rare and intimate benefit evening of breathtaking music from two-time GRAMMY winning solo guitarist, recording artist, composer, and arranger, Laurence Juber. In the company of this guitar great, you can sit back and relax in the gorgeous Sky Lounge at 525 Olive St. in Hillcrest with a view of San Diego's Skyline and Balboa Park. GITC teachers will be on hand to greet and welcome you!
Laurence is internationally renowned, and widely recognized for his work as lead guitarist for Paul McCartney's Wings. His album LJ Plays the Beatles was voted in the top 10 of favorite acoustic guitar recordings by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. He worked closely with founder Jess Baron, supporting her to launch GITC's fledgling pilot programs in 2000. Laurence continues to make spectacular school appearances in GITC schools and school districts and he will do this again when he comes to town in November!
In addition to an enchanting evening of music and stories, the event includes the pre-show mingle beginning at 6 pm with light refreshments, a small silent pre-holiday auction, and a very dessert-ish Scorpio birthday celebration! Both Jess and LJ are celebrating. This event is a fundraiser, and your contribution, made while reserving your seat, is entirely tax deductible. A suggested donation of $75 per person is optimal, but more options are available. We are grateful for your tax-deductible support at whatever level feels most comfortable for you. Together, we will fund free music programs for San Diego schools in musical and financial need to make a difference and improve education through the arts for hundreds of local children and teens this school year!
Logistics for this event are easy. Parking is ample along Balboa Park on 6th Avenue and in the free lot across the street. Scholarship seats are available by special request. GITC teachers will be on-site to welcome you. 525 Olive St. was designed by Architect Joseph Wong and the renowned studio of Jules Wilson. It is completely ADA-accessible, and health and safety protocols such as voluntary masking are always respected.
