All of us have in some way been touched by cancer, and some, like myself, have lived that experience. Pancreatic
cancer will claim the lives of nearly 42,000 Americans, it surpassed
breast cancer as the nation’s 3rd leading cause of cancer-related death,
and the only major cancer with a 5-year survival rate still in single
digits (7%). As a pancreas cancer survivor, I was extremely lucky
thru accidental early detection, but very few patients are so
fortunate. As a result of my good fortune, I am committed to supporting
efforts to improve these terrible statistics!
16th annual Seena Magowitz Golf Classic — a Mattress Industry
fundraiser supporting pancreatic cancer research at the Translational
Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix — is set for Aug. 25-27 in
Boston, MA. This is the third year in Boston (previously held in
Phoenix and Orlando). The event has raised more than $10 million
provided directly to Physician-in-Chief Dr. Daniel Von Hoff and his team
for revolutionary clinical trials that build on TGen’s previous success
in setting the national standard for treating this formidable disease. More
than half of the patients in a recent clinical trial saw their pancreas
tumors shrink by more than 30 percent. An additional 20 percent saw
tumors dissolve; complete remission of an advanced cancer!
In the 16 years since the Seena Magowitz Golf Classic began...
Together we are making a difference in patients’ lives, but the loss of two of Dan’s Diamonds (Survivors) reminds us of how far we have to go.
I will match 100% of all donations, up to $6000 total (+20% from last year).
I’ve set a goal this year to raise $27,000, 20% above last year’s $22,000,
as I sincerely believe in what Dr. Von Hoff and his team are doing
to give patients hope in this fight. Let’s meet that goal together; I
hope you’ll make a tax-deductible donation, ANY amount is deeply
YOU in advance for your generosity!
