Dreams for Kachra Kundi
Kundi is a landfill on the outskirts of Karachi, Pakistan where thousands of
families earn their livelihood by rummaging through waste and selling it to
recycling centers. More than 100 tons of waste is dumped here every day. The
smoke and pollution from the burning garbage is so strong that people are constantly
overcome by illness and infection. Many of them suffer from burns, wounds,
allergies, parasite infestations, breathing disorders and stunted growth as an
effect of the harsh environment.
Seven years ago we launched a school called DREAMS within Kachra Kundi village, in an effort
to help the residents to see a life beyond the landfill that surrounds them. Our
campus provides free primary through metric level education, general and
emergency healthcare, clean water, and counseling to our students and their families. Today
we have 17 classrooms, 33 staff and over 793 students and we are continuing to grow.

*Child sponsorships are Zakaat eligible.
*100% of donations go directly to these students. Our board works on a voluntary basis.
