Stephen Glenn Melvin, 51, of Kansas City, MO died Wednesday, November 6, 2019 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 pm at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood, Kansas City, MO, where friends may gather from 1:00 pm until the Celebration at 2:00 pm. Steve was born August 16, 1968 in Warrensburg, MO to Byron and Jimmie (Hawkins) Melvin. He graduated from CMSU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Photography and was a US Navy veteran. Steve was a professional photographer. He shot portraits, weddings, nudes, and landscapes. He worked for Andrews McMeel Universal Publishing for 17 years as a content editor. Steve was an accomplished drummer, having played with several bands over the years. Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nicole Jaja, of Kansas City, MO, his brother, Greg Melvin of Overland Park; and many friends and colleagues.
