Kate Mitchell is a choreographer, dancer, designer, author and filmmaker. Since founding Kate Mitchell & Dancers in 2003, she has interwoven dance, art, design, and film to create projects with multiple meanings and expressions. Collaborating with other artists, she reveals the contradictions and incongruities between the cultural expectations and personal authenticity of women. GOLDEN, her short dance film, portrayed the story of one woman’s rediscovery of personal power and vitality. GOLDEN went to 32 international film festivals, played to audiences on four continents online and in theater settings, and won 10 awards.
Join Kate Mitchell Creative in supporting her new project, a second short dance film, PANTHEON (working title). This film, her final chapter of a visual, written, and danced homage to the beauty and perseverance of women, will celebrate goddesses of the world, past and present, in all their myriad powers and tenacity in the face of obstacles. The award-winning cinematographers, composer, and costume designer of GOLDEN will collaborate once again to create a vision of the sacred feminine in dance on film. Work is already underway with a completion date set for spring 2024.
