Promoting a Culture of Reading

CELEBRATING NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN READ-IN!!*
The Metro East Literacy Project (MELP) is raising money to help build avid, lifelong readers in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. In some sections of our population, there is a serious reading crisis, and MELP is looking to raise awareness and create opportunities to help improve reading skills within the community.
Let’s fill up the Metro East Literacy Project Bookshelf with your virtual books. Show how much you enjoy reading by listing your favorite books with your generous donation!
* "The National African American Read-In is a groundbreaking effort to encourage communities to read together, centering African American books and authors. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This initiative has reached more than 6 million participants around the world." Learn more.
