Music our community needs right now!!
Help us make this new album available to the people around us!
We believe music has the power to influence culture.
Since 2012, City Psalms has been collaborating with Christian songwriters in Tucson to write songs of prayer for our city. These songs have been played in homes, cars, stages, and churches all across our community. To date, we've worked with over 30 musicians on five albums. Each album touches on a different theme related to God's kingdom work in our town.
Laments is a modern take on the biblical book of Lamentations, contextualized to our current culture. Our very diverse group of songwriters (multi-ethnic, multi-denominational, and multi-generational) began meeting in December of 2019 and journeyed through the pandemic outbreak, our national riots, and the many challenging circumstances of 2020 together. We studied, prayed, grieved, and shared our hearts with each other -- all while attempting to write music that would capture the themes of Lamentations and apply them to our current culture. The album is a raw and gritty outcry to God about the aspects of our world that feel unrighteous and wrong. "When will the world be set right?"
Our prayer is that this music will create a space for listeners to cast their cares on Jesus in the midst of confusion and doubt and provide an outlet for grief and sorrow from injustice and loss.
The total budget for this album is $10,000. We need help raising $3,000 to finish it. We're not far from our goal! Any additional money raised will be used to get the album to more listeners. We can't complete this project without your help! Please consider donating today!
