Don't Touch My Hair
Girls Empowerment Day Event
Black hair is so beautiful. Learning how to love its intricate nature and appreciate how extraordinary it is can be made easier for children and young people with guidance from those around them.
With this in mind, Adama Bah was inspired by her daughter to craft an event, "Don't Touch My Hair", for young girls. With the support of the amazing women in the Harlem community, we will be giving young girls from struggling families free treatments, as well as words of knowledge and encouragement.
Who? 12 Girls (aged 5 to 12) from struggling families in the Harlem Community
What? Washing, Drying, Braiding, Seam Treatment, Face Mask, Goodie Bags with Hair Items and Books from Made For Me Books.
Where? Natural Sisters at 2063 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd
When? Sunday, February 28th at 10:30am
Why? We must empower our girls to set their own standards of what beauty is, not to let others determine their standards for them.
Your donation will go towards 12 Treatments, Lunch for each family in attendance, Tips for the Stylists and a Donation to Made For Me Books!
Thank you for your support in donating to our Girls Empowerment Day Event and other programs like this.
