With the passage of Proposition 207, to legalize recreational marijuana use, it was decided that it would be best to visit the issue of marijuana use and how it may affect individual/families and family law cases. The presenters, listed below, will explore the neurobiology of addiction, Cannabis addiction and its treatment, how the passage of the Proposition will affect custody evaluations and family mediations and how judges will respond when creating orders when there is evidence of the abuse of the substance.
Dr. James Stoehr will discuss the neurobiology of addiction as it pertains to marijuana use.
Mr. Brad Mattingly, author and substance abuse counselor, will discuss treatment of Cannabis addiction.
Mr. Sidney Buckman, MA will discuss the impact of the law change on mediating family law cases, conducting custody evaluations and creating parenting time plans.
Hon. Bruce Cohen will discuss, from the court’s perspective of how the new law can affect creating orders in family law cases.
