Wheelchair Campaign in memory of David Weissman
Help us purchase ten wheelchairs in David's memory!

Dear Friends,
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of the Center's dear friend and board member David Weissman. David passed away after battling with a persistent pulmonary infection on February 15th, 2021.

Almost 20 years ago, David opened his big heart to the children of the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled, which became his main philanthropic interest. David became an important part of the Center's leadership, as he served as Honorable Chairman of the Center's Florida Friends for more than a decade and then became a prominent board member on the newly established American Friends Organization in 2011.
He initiated the Center's Wall of Honor, which brought in well over $2 M to the Center. In addition, he was instrumental and helpful in the building of a much necessary elevator at the Geri and David Pincus Rehab Center and the purchase of adapted gym equipment, to mention only a few of his projects. David took interest in the Center and its children on a daily basis, many of whom he knew by name. When struck by a great idea, David would call even if it was the middle of the night in his time zone. When he wanted to help a specific child, he would think about it until the matter was solved. When he wanted someone to give to the Center, he would pursue them sometimes for years, until they did. He knew the names of the Center's front desk receptionists and the names of the maintenance guys. He knew the opening hours of the kindergarten and how much the Center spends on electricity. It was his world and his passion.
Anyone who knew David, knows that he worked tirelessly to raise money for the purchase of new wheelchairs for the children at the Center. There's no better way to honor his memory than for us to purchase 10 new wheelchairs at a cost of $3,600 each. Please help us to continue David's legacy of love for children with disabilities in Israel.
David will be greatly missed by the Center's leadership, by its volunteers, by its staff and most of all, by the children and families who benefited from his kindness and endless love.
Zikhrono Livrakha - May his memory be for a blessing.
