Hey, you there! We're so glad you're here. Let's chat!
Foster Village Waco launched in September of 2018. Since then, our leadership team and volunteers have been enthusiastically serving McLennan County families involved in the child welfare system through our wrap around care programs. Our Welcome Pack Program meets foster, kinship or reunifying families in the trenches of care- within the first 24-48 hours of a child coming into their home. These children often arrive at their foster family's home with short notice and only the clothes they have on. In the midst of a mountain of paperwork, medical appointments, and (most importantly) comforting a distressed and confused child, the family scrambles to different stores addressing clothing and food needs and preferences. We want to take a bit of that off their plates so that they can focus on the important work of relationship building rather than resource gathering in that first week of placement.
It takes ONE family to foster, but a whole village must rise up to support that family during their journey. Your generosity as a reoccurring donor makes it possible for families to give a confident "Yes!" when a caseworker calls and asks if they're able to take a placement- because they know they have the wrap around support necessary to jump in with both feet, doing the good work of caring for our most vulnerable population.
Welcome Pack Program, we are able to deliver
all of the basic necessities available free of charge to those caring for
children entering the foster care system. Licensed foster parents and kinship
caregivers reach us directly through our Request Form, and we are able to make sure that
children entering their home under emergency circumstances have everything they
need to feel safe and cared for within those first, often stressful, 24 hours.
Our organization is unique in that caregivers can reach out to us directly for
help, rather than needing to go through assigned caseworkers who are already
During the month of November we’re asking 30 community members to link arms with us, serving the McLennan County foster community together by donating at least $30 a month! Beyond
basic necessities, children entering new homes often need new car seats or
boosters, additional beds/bunk beds to ensure siblings have the opportunity to
stay together, and specialty care items such as video monitors for safety or
specific clothing because of sensory needs. These critical items are provided
through the generosity of the Foster Village Waco community of donors.
With your continuing support, we can say “Yes!” to the families that give so much to our most vulnerable.
