2020 Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal
It is time to get ready for our 2020 Annual Thanksgiving Dinner! We will be providing 200-400 traditional Thanksgiving Meals (turkey, dressing, gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, dessert, bread, and drink) to the homeless and needy in our area. This particular outreach will cost us around $2,000.00, we would love your support in showing thanks for how blessed we are and sharing love with those in need!
Due to Covid-19 concerns we are changing up our normal routine for our Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner celebration! We will not be setting up our traditional serving line, instead we will be handing out pre-prepared Thanksgiving Dinners.
Here is how it will work:
We will be assembling all "to-go" meals on Wednesday November 25th are our facility at 124 Signal Hills Dr. Chattanooga, TN 37405. We will need approximately 15 Volunteers to help assemble the meals. We will begin assembly about 9:30a.m. and should finish by noon.
At approximately 12 noon, we will head to two locations to pass out the Thanksgiving meals we have already assembled.
We will need approximately 12 Volunteers to help us in passing out meals.
1st location will be at the corner of M.L. King Blvd. and Georgia Ave. (near Miller Park)
2nd location will be at M.L. King Blvd. and Houston St. (Near the Bessie Smith Cultural Center)
Please come prepared to help at whichever location you are needed!
We will be serving on Wednesday November 25th, 2020; from 1pm until 3pm.
If you would like to join us, please let us know! Please also share this with your family, friends, and church groups!
What do you think of when November rolls around? Most of us would say “Thanksgiving!”; me too, generally. I’ve already got pumpkin pie and whipped cream on my mind. Not to mention gravy… gravy is good on everything! Sadly, there are those in our community who are more concerned about if they will eat, not what they will eat. They are thinking more about where they will sleep tonight than how many people will be at their house on Thanksgiving!
For 70 years, the Union Gospel Mission has been helping our un-housed neighbors with these exact issues! We have been providing a place to find food, shelter, and most importantly the opportunity to change their lives. In our 70 years we have provided over 2 million meals to those who are hungry, we have provided over 1 million safe nights sleep to those who have no options, tens of thousands of pieces of clothing and furnishings, and many other physical needs that we have had the pleasure of meeting.
But most importantly, we have provided the resources for individuals to create lasting change in their lives! A chance to break the chains of addiction, a chance to rebuild relationships long destroyed, and the opportunity to make an eternal difference! But, none of this happens without help! Your financial gift makes it possible for us to help those who may have nowhere else to turn! With the ongoing pandemic, we are about $2,000.00 behind our budget goals for this time, please consider helping us continue “Meeting Needs, Making Change, and Magnifying Christ!”
Please pray for our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner where we will be serving between 300 and 400 traditional Thanksgiving meals to those in need in the Chattanooga Area! Because of COVID-19 we are not sure how this will look yet, but please contact us for more information. You can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
