The Need: There are 499 children and youth in foster care in Delaware. And there are families who have chosen to open their hearts and their homes to care for them. Neglect, substance abuse, or other traumatic events, lead to children entering the foster care system at no fault of their own. These children, and the families who are now caring for them, are trying to adjust to their new life together. The complexity of this can lead to burnout in the foster parents and more trauma for the kids. Foster Well exists to be a bridge between the foster care community and those that want to love and support them.

Your Help: Since foster care involves the whole family, we’re giving gifts that the whole family can enjoy. We want the kids and foster families, in New Castle County, to feel encouraged and supported by their community this holiday season. We are working with Children and Families First, Children's Choice, and the Department of Family Services to sponsor some of their families. Through our Giving Tree, you can sponsor a gift straight from our website and we will make sure it gets delivered to a foster family with a personalized card. You can also sponsor a Starbucks gift card for a social worker to let them know we appreciate the work they're doing. There is a variety of gifts and prices to choose from so anyone can participate!
