Jazmine's Story: A Passionate Student on the Path to Success
My name is
Jazmine Nelson and I’m a La Marque High School graduate of 2018. Upon my
graduation I was awarded the Cougar to Cougar scholarship to assist me in my
upcoming undergraduate years. The scholarship helped me significantly as I come
from a single parent household and large funds for things such as college
aren’t always easy to come by. I’m now a senior Biology major and Psychology
minor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and I’ve come a long way from
that high school senior. The scholarship allowed me to attend school and to
embrace the culture here on campus. I’m now an officer in the Pre-Medical
Society and also a member of the Rowdy Corps community-based work program. I’ve
found time to make many friends and network with many people that can help me
in my future. I’ve also used my time to give back to the San Antonio community
by devoting many hours to community service and community outreach. The Cougar
to Cougar scholarship helped me to make my dreams as high school student a
reality and I’m forever grateful to have been a recipient.
