Because Nobody Is. We're A BLIND Organization!
Foresight Ski Guides’ Year End Fundraising Campaign
is in full swing, swing DANCING that is!
Hopefully you've loosened up those stiff joints and shown off your best dance moves on social media
and now you're here to donate to help support programs that
benefit people who are blind and visually impaired.
Since 2001 Foresight Ski Guides has provided affordable access to skiing and snowboarding for hundreds of youth and adults who are legally blind. Foresight’s program not only reinforces the importance of physical fitness in our lives, but it also provides a platform to learn other life skills such as self-confidence, independence, leadership, socialization, orientation/mobility, and perseverance.
The global pandemic has hit us all hard. Foresight has lost traditional funding from foundations and private family trusts and needs YOUR support now more than ever to continue providing the transformative experiences that are so important to our participants.
Imagine buckling your feet into hard plastic ski boots then, essentially, locking those boots onto two boards. Next, you’re going to move through a lift line to get on a large swing (chairlift) that will whisk you up high in the air and transport you to the top of a mountain. At the top of the mountain you’ll head to the edge of a slope, point your skis down and trust you aren’t going to run into people or trees or moguls (big mounds of snow). It’s scary enough to imagine with sight… now close your eyes and try it!
*Of course, the above scenario takes place with experienced skiers who have spent time previously with Foresight or other adaptive programs. We don’t do that with beginners and people who have never skied before.
Time and again our Visually Impaired Participants (VIPs) tell us the confidence they develop from participating in Foresight’s program teaches them they can take on anything life throws at them. What a powerful experience!
Coming in 2021, Foresight is set to launch its NEW summer program. Why limit the transformative
work we do to winter only? Offering
summer recreation activities opens doors to a greater number of
people who are blind and visually impaired and will provide additional
opportunities to challenge oneself both mentally and physically.
Activities may include:
* Rock Climbing
* Stand Up Paddle Boarding
* Ropes Courses
* Team Building Activities
HOW YOUR MONEY WILL BE SPENT
Money raised during #FSGdancelikenobodyswatching will be used for:
* Winter ski program
* Summer multi-day youth camps
* Planning efforts for launch of summer program
* Marketing and Development efforts
* Retention and addition of staff
YOUR donation will directly impact the lives of blind and visually impaired youth and adults
After donating consider taking a photo of yourself with your donation page and sharing it on social media.
Shout it out to the world that you support Foresight Ski Guides!
And if you want to lace back up those boogie shoes and strut yourself for all to see… go for it!
You can “dance like nobody’s watching” because nobody is. We’re a BLIND organization!
