Anytown Alabama Scholarship Donations
Anytown Alabama, is a weeklong, residential teen social justice and leadership summit designed to give students in grades 9 through 11 from the greater Birmingham metro area an intensive and interactive learning experience, discussing social justice issues and learning leadership skills. Started by the National Conference for Community and Justice (a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism in America) in 1989, Anytown Alabama has a 30-year long history of empowering student delegates as leaders in the community.
Each year, student participants (called delegates) spend the week in a refreshingly open and supportive environment sharing their cultures and beliefs, and developing leadership skills and new perspectives. Each day, delegates are immersed in different workshops and activities. Past topics have included race and socioeconomics, religious oppression, and creating inclusive communities.
Anytown Alabama 2023 is June 4-10 at Camp McDowell. Delegate fees are $450, but no applicants are turned away because of inability to pay. Your donation helps cover fees for Anytown Delegates and program cost.
