Does talking to teens about birth control promote sexual activity? Is there a right age to have these talks? Should parents leave sex ed up to the schools?
Meet Erica Lyon, MPH, a professional parent educator who will present with a child development focus on how to have these uncomfortable but necessary conversations with our kids. Parents have a
powerful influence on their children's knowledge and behavior. How or if to best
start these conversations and teach about adult responsibility and
behavior can be a daunting
part of a parent's job. Parents can instill their values in children, but we need
information, strategy, and support to do so.
This session will
cover the development arc of a growing child and what works at different
ages to guide and support parents in navigating a challenging world and
charged topic. The session will be virtual with a lecture presentation
and then open Q&A.
