The Sand in My Shoes Award honors accomplished leaders who have made significant contributions to the communities where they live. The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will be presenting the 2021 award to David Lawrence Jr., a nationally renowned journalist and publisher, who upon his early retirement from the Miami Herald, became a leading national advocate for children and early childhood education. David went on to establish the Children’s Trust and the Children’s Movement of Florida. The Chamber is truly honored to recognize David’s exemplary dedication and far-reaching vision in serving his community and our children.
Early learning is a critical issue for the business sector because it helps form a solid base on which to build a quality workforce for the future. The Chamber has worked with Dave for many years advocating for early learning funding in Florida. To make a charitable donation in support of this work and David Lawrence, we encourage you to make a donation to the South Florida Progress Foundation by selecting your contribution from below.
