Orphans and Vulnerable Children Campaign.

As Nelson Mandela so sagely put it:

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”

South Africa is in the grip of a food crisis with 2.5 million South Africans experiencing hunger daily. Poverty levels have been exacerbated by the lockdowns and other restrictions imposed in the country as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In rural communities such as Ndumo, people have been the hardest hit. Located in far-northern Kwazulu-Natal on the border between Mozambique and South Africa. This community has historically been burdened by extreme poverty, which has been exacerbated by the novel coronavirus pandemic. Now more than ever, they are in desperate need of assistance, with a chronic shortage of food, particularly for the large number of orphaned and vulnerable children in the area.

Ndumu Schools Orphan Project (NSOP) is an organization created by the poverty alleviation arm of ERP.ngo (Elephants, Rhinos and People) to help alleviate hunger in communities like Ndumo. They supply e’Pap (a pre-cooked, fortified ‘super food’) to vulnerable children.

Currently, NSOP feeds 400 of the most vulnerable children per month, along with providing other essential items such as clothing, blankets, and other items. The village of Ndumo however has more than 2,000 hungry children who are in desperate need of assistance.

One of our vulnerable children in need of assistance is Nokwanda, read more about her story here

For as little as $15 a month, you can support an orphaned or otherwise vulnerable child for an entire month.

Feel free to share this link on your social media. Let’s see if we can feed all the vulnerable children of Ndumo by the end of 2021.

On behalf of the community, thank you for taking the time to read this.
