ASBC's Summer 2021 Send-A-Kid-To-Camp Scholarships
The Autism Society of Boulder County’s (ASBC) Send-A-Kid-To-Camp scholarship program began in honor of Jack Ferrigno, a young boy with autism who thought in colors and brightened the lives of those around him.
Brett Smith, the head chef and partner from The Post Brewing Company approached ASBC years ago with the idea of creating a camp grant program to celebrate the life of Jack Ferrigno. John Ferrigno and Kelly Straub, Jack’s parents and Brett’s friends, were so thankful for the camps that Jack attended and for the confidence and joy that those experiences gave him. They all envisioned a camp grant program that would help families affected by autism gain access to recreational and therapeutic opportunities that might expand social skills and build confidence while most importantly having fun.
From that vision, ASBC created the Send a Kid to Camp scholarship program. With the donation that ASBC raises each year, we have funded bike-riding clinics, skateboarding clinics, ski/snowboard lessons, rafting and camping trips and hundreds of individual camp scholarships for our community members.
Applications for 2021 Camp scholarships will be accepted from families in need from April 1st, 2021 until the allotted funding for camp scholarships have been allocated.
ASBC will issue no more than one scholarship per individual, for no more than one camp provider, up to a maximum of $250. No exceptions will be made.
Recipients must have an ASD diagnosis.
Recipients must live in Boulder County or Broomfield County.
Scholarship must be used for recreational activities only. Scholarship funds may not be used for therapeutic or educational purposes. ASBC will verify all camp providers and programs prior to awarding scholarships.
Individuals who have submitted a complete application online will be notified whether they have been awarded the scholarship from ASBC within 2 weeks of application submission. ASBC will not expedite the approval process.
If an individual is awarded a 2021 Camp scholarship, it is the recipient’s responsibility to communicate with the camp provider to ensure that they are aware of ASBC’s Send a Kid to Camp Scholarship Payment Process.
Applications must be submitted online via the Flipcause registration portal.
Applications will be reviewed and awarded based on the order in which they are received.
If the applicant or recipient decides to change camp programs after an application has been submitted or a scholarship has been awarded, the applicant/recipient must begin the application process over and any new application will be reviewed and awarded based on the order in which it is received (you will lose your original application place in line).
If applicants and/or recipients fail to comply with these guidelines, future applications may be denied.
