heavy buckets of water back to our homes. We are fortunate to have clean
water whenever we want. But roughly 1 in 10 people on earth do not have access
to clean water. That is over 784 million people and 37
million of them die each year from water borne diseases.
It is a big problem, but we can do something
to help!
In Zimbabwe, water is extremely scarce, and one viable solution is to pipe water through boreholes into water holding tanks that serve the community. The Fyera Foundation is partnering with Rosshirt Water for Africa Foundation to drill a borehole with a solar-powered pump which will make a dramatic improvement in the lives of thousands of people in Zimbabwe. Clean water improves the health and education
of the community.
Investing in clean water today improves the health and vitality of communities for years to come. From our experience in Zimbabwe in 2020, we found that providing water leads to better nutrition and education because once the water is flowing, the communities can grow gardens; and young girls have time to attend school because they do not need to spend long hours searching for water and hauling it back to their homes. The Fyera Foundation has granted its first scholarship to a 12-year-old girl that hopes to become a physician. This opportunity is possible thanks to the borehole that we facilitated in March in her community. Today, she does not have to carry water for her family and has just enrolled in school to start June 23rd.
