2021 Garrett Trails Volunteer Opportunities
Say Yes To New Experiences!
We want to match you to the volunteer experience you are looking for!
- Trail Maintenance- Meet with our Volunteer Team Leaders on a schedule the group chooses for trail remediation, trail section rerouting, weed eating, mowing, sign installation and other dirty, dusty, sweaty work that will make you forget all about the last year of endless Zoom meetings! We supply the tools and the know how, you bring the grit and willing hands to make improvements to the Honorable Paul Sarbanes Trail, Fork Run Recreation Area, Meadow Mountain Trail, Margraff Trails and local town trails.
- Trail Use and Activity Survey- This year we embark on our first full scale trail survey, and we are looking for enthusiastic and outgoing people to go on trail asking people to answer a few questions about their experience. Along the way you'll learn more about the trails and be an ambassador for Garrett Trails, helping people get the most out of their time outside!
- Adaptive Trails- This pilot program is intended to better serve the adaptive trail community, and we are seeking experienced volunteers to help guide and inform our work. This is an incredible opportunity to help us become leaders in adaptive trail design and construction and can also include fundraising to help purchase all terrain wheelchairs for the program!
- Mapping and Measuring- Perfect for the solo or couple volunteers that enjoy hiking the entire length of trails, but now you can significantly improve our service to the community by capturing the exact distances with a measuring wheel. Additionally we are looking for help with updating Google maps and improving the website to better communicate the trail systems and what users will encounter.
