. Cheyanne's story: From Camper to Champion
Cheyanne joined Expanding Horizons Farm on August 5th, 2019, as a first-time participant. She had never been part of a summer camp experience and was apprehensive to groups, the outdoors, and Jesus. After just 2 days at Expanding Horizons Farm, she began to notice that things in her heart, mind and personality began to shift. She would tell you that she went from feeling locked down inside to suddenly feeling herself becoming more outgoing and courageous.
After that week of Summer Camp, Cheyanne has continued to build relationships, go on rides, and explore the new facets of her healing and faith. No matter the event or weather, Cheyanne has faithfully showed up to enjoy time with the furry friends and offer her help. She has been such a significant supporter in all that we do at Expanding Horizons Farm. From fundraisers to trail stewardship events her consistent investment into this ministry has changed her life and, subsequently, the lives of many others. Discovering her gifts, talents, and passions and allowing her the space to dream into and test them out has caused her to BLOOM!
This is one of many stories we have heard, each uniquely beautiful! We have seen so many of our participants return to camp for more, as they seek a deeper relationship with God. I am so moved by how the awe and wonder of creation awakens young hearts to life. They feel the courage to explore their passions and talents, ask deep questions, and make connections between scripture and the lessons we learn from the hands-on experiences. What I love most about Cheyanne's unique testimony is that she says that she returns each year because: "I love watching kiddos open up and discover God's love. I see it happen in them, because it happened to me."

Cheyanne shares her enthusiasm as she leads by leaning into each kiddo's story and journey through camp. Cheyanne truly is such an incredible young woman, and she continues to inspire me through her determination and hard work. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to help guide her on her faith journey. It is such a joy to lead alongside her!
