2021 Campfire Stories

Welcome to SUSTAINABILITY LEADERSHIP AWARDS: CAMPFIRE STORIES

TUESDAY EVENING, SEPT 14

For the most up-to-date details, visit sustainableseattle.org/sustainability-leadership-awards

The need to build our climate resilience has powerful implications for development, infrastructure, and social connections -- from how we deal with the increasing threats of climate disruptions and how we, as a community, can plan to recover and thrive.

Our communities are made ready by the leadership of extraordinary community members. For over a decade, Sustainable Seattle has hosted the Sustainability Leadership Awards. This event connects our community, and inspires the leader within you, by celebrating the work of regional experts, organizers, and multiple industry sectors.

Over twenty community-identified sustainability leaders will be recognized, and four inspiring honorees will share their campfire stories to bring hope and guidance as we build the bridge to our future together. These campfire stories deepen our understanding of equitably centered sustainability practices and connection with the changes needed for our collective environmental and social resilience. This will take place around a campfire sculpture at the center of Pier 62 at sunset.

Interactive, inspiring, and uplifting, these Campfire Stories are sure to deepen your sustainability practice and connection with the community. Even in challenging times, nature provides abundance.

This years' honorees include:

   💚 The Heart of Sustainability

Ming-Ming Tung-Edelman

    🏞️ Home for Good

    🌱 Food & Gratitude

    ✊ Policy for People

LOCATION SOCIALLY DISTANT, OUTDOORS AND ONLINE

All activities take place on the recently reopened Pier 62, just north of the Seattle Aquarium. Seattle’s waterfront piers transition our city between its industrial center and formative natural landscape. Plan to dress for weather; temperature can change dramatically as sea breezes come in.

S2 works with frontline communities and workers. The safety of our community is of utmost importance. We ask that all attendees be vaccinated and wear a mask throughout the duration of the event, regardless of vaccination status. If you have questions about safety precautions taken during this event, please don't hesitate to reach out to S2's Co-Director Dominick at: [email protected]

ACCESSIBILITY

  • ADA accessible
  • Water and restrooms are available on-site

  • All activities will be livestreamed those who cannot attend in-person.

S2 is committed to making all of our events accessible to the entire community. Those who are most impacted by climate change and unsustainable practices, are often left out of the conferences, gatherings, and ceremonies highlighting leadership in the sector. You can help ensure equitable access to this event by donating using the sliding scale extra ticket option listed at the bottom.

If you are experiencing profound financial or mobility barriers to accessing these events, please reach out so we can streamline access and ensure our programs are truly welcoming for all!
