Botanical Pressing Workshop
Preserving Blooms with Botanical Pressing and Collage
Join us at Alaska Botanical Garden to learn how to artfully preserve garden blooms and foliage through the age-old practice of botanical pressing. Together, we will walk step by step through the process of pressing botanical material to preserve the beauty and vibrancy of the original bloom. Then, using material already harvested and pressed at Alaska Botanical Garden, participants will be guided to create beautiful floral collages on handmade paper. Creating floral collages can be a simple, yet beautiful way to preserve memories from weddings, baby showers, Mother's Day, and more to create meaningful gifts for family and friends. This will be a relaxed, hands-on, and interactive workshop. Participants will leave with a simple plant press to get you started on your own plant pressing venture, a framed floral collage, inspiration, and a list of tips so that you can continue artfully preserving blooms from your own garden and beyond.
This workshop will take place outside; please dress for the weather. Please respect social distancing and give 6' of space between members of different households; masks are encouraged.
