Unfixed is an audience-supported digital hug for anyone living with adversity (and I think that’s all of us.) Through the content we create, you are helping this world become more empathic, understanding and aware of how adversity has the potential to shape us all into better human beings.
Funding for 2024 - 2025 will help create the following programming:
- Unfixed: Unsung: a short, independent film collaboration with QStack and author Troy Ford that explores the lives of four LGBTQ+ individuals living with chronic illness or mental health challenges, capturing the humanity and complexity of identity and how it intersects with our health and well-being.
- Unbound: a dance film collaboration with dramatist Sara Nesson featuring twenty individuals living with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) or Long COVID.
The project will provide people of diverse backgrounds and abilities with the opportunity to tell a story that explores the intersection between limits and freedom—in movement and in life.
- ICU podcast: exploring the vestibular experience through conversations between patients and the health professionals who care for them.
- Unfixed interviews - an audio/visual exploration of unfixed’s meaning and implication in different walks of life—illness, of course, but also relationships, family, aging, socio-economic challenges, career, trauma and climate change.
Funding for 2023 - 2024 helped create the following programming:
- The Unfixed Mind: Navigating Mental Health Today - a four-part miniseries chronicling the real life stories of individuals living with mental health conditions, capturing the humanity and complexity of navigating their diagnosis in today's world.
- Development and publishing of the memoir Liberation of Being, by Dylan Shanahan
- ICU podcast
- Creation of my memoir Unfixed - a personal reckoning with a myriad of unknowns that ultimately leads to a surprising kind of healing that embraces a wild and untamable life.
- Unfixed interviews - an audio/visual exploration of unfixed’s meaning and implication in different walks of life—illness, of course, but also relationships, family, aging, socio-economic challenges, trauma and climate change.
