The “Together We Can” Fund
The success of every BATA student takes a whole community
We at BATA insist that learning is a collaborative exercise. That it hinges on strong, mutually supportive relationships. That students do their best when they know that their teachers and colleagues believe in them.
Unfortunately, community is education’s biggest unfunded mandate… even more so at alternative high schools, where the general approach is to encourage older students to keep their heads down, recover credits quickly, and get their diplomas.
BATA’s graduates flourish, and start college and careers confidently, because, while they were recovering credits, they were part of something bigger. Something that anchored them in meaning, made them feel like members of a team, and taught them the vital 21st century skill of finding novel solutions to complex problems together. Together they could.
The “Together We Can” Fund promises every future BATA student an experience like this. Your generosity will fund the project-based learning, career pathways, social-emotional development, peer mentoring, student leadership, and school traditions that have come to define BATA as a community, and that propel our students into lives of personal and civic success.
