Tyler

Help Tyler’s family reach their goal of purchasing a wheelchair-accessible van. Tyler’s story is remarkable, he was born weighing one pound twelve ounces. He would remain in the NICU hospital for the first four months of life. He was close to death four times. dependent on machines to keep him breathing, pumps for his heart, tubes for blood transfusions and nourishment. During those four months, he suffered from brain hemorrhages. Grade 5 on the right and Grad 4 on the left. Tyler was never shunted for these bleeds but did create damage to his brain. Not only would his brain not develop normally neither would his eyes as his retinas detached. Surgery to reattach was attempted but was not successful, leaving him completely blind. He has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, developmental delay, wheelchair-bound, cerebral palsy, spastic, quadriplegic, autism spectrum disorder, legal blindness.
Tyle is now 17 years old and weighs 150 pounds and is too heavy to lift by his mother & father to put into a car. The family is in desperate need of a wheelchair-accessible van to transport him safely to and from doctor and therapy appointments.
