2021 CFC Varied Twitchers Trip with Mike Rogers
California Fall Challenge In-Person Event (COVID-modified style)
Date: Saturday, October 16, 2021
Time: 7:30am - 1:00pm
Mike is an expert birder who knows all the best birding spots of Santa Clara County. This fast-paced walk will take avid birders to the best Alviso and Shoreline Lakes birding locations, with the goal to see and hear 100 species.
This event is part of SFBBO's 40th Anniversary California Fall Challenge (CFC). The estimated value of the walk ($10) is not tax deductible. Registration is eligible to receive a 2021 California Fall Challenge T-Shirt (pictured below). This year's shirt is a beautiful multi-colored design created by artist Julie Ho that depicts 40 birds for 40 years. If you would like to receive a shirt, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what style and size you would like - we have women's and unisex styles in small, medium, large, XL, and (in unisex) XXL. The estimated value of the 100% cotton, water-based ink, Leaf Green t-shirt ($20) is not tax deductible.
Mike is a former member of the California Bird Records Committee and is currently Northern California regional editor for the journal North American Birds. He is also part of the many-times champion Mewaldt Cup bird-a-thon team, the Refugees.
While the Varied Twitchers and SFBBO welcome support from everyone, the walk will be limited to 10 participants.
All volunteers and participants will be asked to please follow the social distancing protocols:
- Wear face masks at all times during the event
- Stay 6 feet apart from others who are not in your household
- Do not share common touch items (scopes, binoculars, clipboards, handouts, books etc.) with people outside your household
- HEALTH CHECK – prior to the event all participants will be asked to do a self-health assessment at home and fill out a form asking if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms and if they or anyone they live with have COVID-19 or have been in contact with anyone who has COVID-19. If they answer yes to any of these, we hope you can still support the California Fall Challenge but ask that you please stay at home.
Please also reference the CDC's social distancing guidelines.
The California Fall Challenge (CFC) is SFBBO's biggest annual fundraising campaign. Our goal for this year's 40th Anniversary CFC is to raise $40,000 to support our work throughout the year and we hope you will participate and help us to reach our goal! Please register below. Registrations can also be made by check to San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, 524 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035. Please include a note sharing what event it is for and send an email ASAP to email@example.com so we can reserve a spot for you. Further event details will be sent to you before the event. Questions? Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
More fun California Fall Challenge events are scheduled for September and October including great speakers and in-person events. Please check them out!
