Help the Juneau Senior Nutrition Program
On behalf of Juneau’s senior citizens who benefit from our hot and
nutritious meals, we need your support. Your donation ensures that meals are
available to seniors five days per week. These meals help seniors, many of whom
are on fixed incomes, maintain health and independent living, speedy recovery
from surgery or illness, and prevent disease.
This year, increased demand for meals and home deliveries has increased
our costs for food and containers. We
depend on individuals, such as you, to help us continue this essential service.
We are thrilled to report our numbers for FY 2021:

We provided 40,850 meals last year, a significant increase from
the previous years’ 31,158 meals.

We served home-delivered meals to 310 seniors.
Additionally, home delivery volunteers provide a crucial safety
check for those living alone. Particularly
now, with the risks associated with COVID-19, it is imperative to support the
health and wellbeing of our seniors. Meals are currently prepared at the Senior
Center and delivered by volunteers five days per week to seniors in their homes.
Once our centers re-open, complete, and balanced meals will be available at the
Juneau Senior Center and at our satellite site, the Douglas Senior Center.
