There are no more trainings scheduled for 2023. If you are interested in attending a training in 2024, please contact Terri Masiello at [email protected].
There are 5 different restorative justice processes that have been identified by the RYCNC as appropriate for use with community-based agencies and in alignment with new Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) program guidelines. Dates and descriptions for each process can be found when you click on the registration buttons at the bottom of this page, or you can see all the dates and descriptions for each process on one page together here.
Youth Mediation (with optional Truancy Mediation add-on) - Aug/Sept
Responsive Circles - January & November Youth Mediation/Truancy - March & Aug/Sept Restorative Conferencing - May and July/Aug Peer Accountability Circles - January & Oct/Nov Family Group Conferencing - May & July
These trainings are for aspiring facilitators, including volunteers, who can work with community-based agencies that provide restorative services for responsible youth and impacted parties. It includes interactive learning and role-playing, allowing participants to practice how to facilitate basic diversion or court-referred cases involving youth who have caused harm, victimized parties, family members, and support people.
All of the trainings are provided online in 4- or 5- sessions provided once a week from 9am-11am EST, with expectations that some independent work will need to be completed outside of that time each week. Participants should plan to attend all of the sessions in the course. A Certificate of Completion is available upon request once all the final assignments have been submitted.
Registration is limited to 20 participants for each course. If you need to pay by invoice or check, please select that option when you choosing your ticket type. If you are registering more than one participant for your agency, go ahead and select the number you are registering. During checkout, complete the first page with information about your organization, then it will prompt you to fill out information for each participant on the next page.
Pre-requisites: Some of the courses require foundational familiarity with Restorative Justice. Any introductory Restorative Justice workshop, or other Background/Experience in Restorative Justice will be sufficient. Triad RJ offers an online Basics of Restorative Justice course bi-monthly. Amplify RJ also has some good online Intro to RJ courses.
If you have any questions about whether these trainings are appropriate for your organization, please contact Terri Masiello at [email protected].
