The Outdoor Programs are four-week foundational courses that introduce middle and high school students to nature while experiencing fresh air, physical activity, hands on learning, new friendships, and memorable outdoor experiences. The four programs are Camping Essentials, The Backcountry, In the Know, and Our Planet. Each four-week program consists of four courses that provide instruction and practical application of the programs’ theme. The participants may begin with any program and are encouraged to complete consecutively, but not required to.
Students must be able to hike at a slow to moderate pace between 2-3 miles. Flashlights or headlamps are recommended but not required as some sessions may be at or near sunset. Students will be challenged as they discover more about themselves, nature, and others in a safe, fun, and responsible way.
