Save Money and Be Resilient – Southern IL Sustainable Business Webinar Series

Join us each Thursday in February at 10am for a webinar series aimed to help businesses adapt and recover, build resilience, and reduce costs through sustainability practices. We’ll talk about why sustainability matters for small business and cover a variety of low to no cost savings opportunities to get your business started down its sustainability journey. We’ll also cover available incentive programs and how to get recognized for your green efforts with the Illinois Green Business Program. This free weekly series starts February 3^rd!

Webinars are sponsored by the Illinois Green Business Association and the Climate Economy Education Inc, both 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. All donations will be shared by the organizations 50/50 and donors will be listed as "supporters" on the website.

Webinar 1: What is “Sustainable Business” and Why Does it Matter?

Sustainability continues to gain momentum nationwide and large corporations continue to drive innovation. Consumers are also seeking ways to not only be sustainable but want to support products and businesses with sustainability missions and activities. In this session, we’ll define sustainability in business and review how consumers are driving a more sustainable economy. Sustainability not only benefits your business, but also benefits your local community. We will discuss the benefits of incorporating green practices into your company and dig into some ways your business can start aligning your business and activities to meet this growing demand for a clean and green economy.

Webinar 2: Increasing Profit Margins by Reducing Energy and Water Use

Date: February 10, 2022

Implementing basic energy efficiency measures can reduce your energy use by 30% and yield significant cost savings. Conserving water can also reduce utility bills and add money back into your bottom line. In this session, we’ll cover the basics of energy efficiency and water conservation, as well as low to no cost strategies that you can launch now to reduce your utility costs. We will also share key resources, incentives and support services that can help you integrate energy and water saving measures.

Webinar 3: Waste Less & Save Money with the Three “R”s and Green Purchasing

We all know the three “R”s – reduce, reuse, recycle – but what are the bottom line benefits of these practices? In this session, we’ll talk about how your waste reduction efforts not only affect the waste you produce, but how you purchase supplies and materials. We will discuss the three “R”s and the importance of each, along with the economics of recycling and how adding a recycling bin may not actually add more to your garbage bill. One of the easiest sustainability efforts that is widely recognized by consumers is recycling. We’ll also cover how you can start or increase your waste diversion and recycling efforts and how your consumers can help achieve those waste reduction goals.

Webinar 4: Get Recognized for your Sustainability Efforts!

As you start implementing green practices into your business operations, did you know you can get statewide recognition for those efforts? In this session, we’ll share how the Illinois Green Business Program can help verify your green practices and communicate your efforts to your consumer base and your community. There are a variety of benefits to becoming a certified green business and other green practices you can implement to achieve recognition. We’ll cover how to get started towards certification and the process of getting recognized. Green businesses are businesses that help keep our community healthy, help our consumers stay engaged in sustainability efforts, and are leaders in their region.
