All Access Project - Vergennes Opera House

The "All Access Project" envisions our historic opera house as a community space that is truly accessible to all.  

It includes:


1) A newly constructed elevator tower affixed to the southwest side of the building, providing easy access to both the lower level of City Hall and the second story theater/community space.


2) An improved walkway from the street to this new entrance by repurposing the alleyway between the Opera House and St. Paul's Church, creating a pedestrian courtyard to welcome visitors who need to use the elevator.


3) Interior improvements including a discreet lift from the auditorium level to the stage and dressing room levels for performers with mobility challenges, along with an ADA restroom within the dressing room.


We look forward to sharing our plans and our progress as we continue to move forward. Our goal is to break ground in May of 2025.
