Rescue Barn Campaign

Will you help us build a new rescue barn?

In this year alone, Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary has turned away 35 horses due to lack of space and resources. We always try and assist in finding a solution for them, but, simply put, we need more space. We feel blessed to be able to care for these abused, abandoned, neglected and/or unwanted horses, but we need your help.

We are beginning a campaign to build a new 9 stall rescue barn here at the Sanctuary! We have already had 600 tons of dirt donated to help prepare the site. We have also had two working cupolas donated to facilitate the hay storage in the top part of the barn. As you can see from the artist’s rendering, the barn will be attractive, but economical, as well. The timber for the building will be taken off of the property and milled, locally, to greatly reduce costs. The twelve clerestory windows (six on each side of the second level) will be remnants of double hung windows from a local, specialty window business which will let us have them for $10.00 each! The green metal roofing will come from a large, national metal building company, that is based locally and will provide it at a wholesale cost. There will be 9 stalls inside and a tack room, a feed room and a veterinarian area with a wash stall, to be able to handle medical situations during the harsh mountain winters. All told, we can bring the building in at approximately $65,000.00 which is $16.00/square foot! We need your help with any or all of the following:
