United Virginia Education Fund is a 501(c)3 charitable organization helping to raise support to initiate a chapter in Virginia of the Social Enterprise Alliance - because there is no such organization supporting the vital social enterprise sector in Virginia.
A social enterprise is an organization or initiative that combines the social mission of a non-profit or government program with the market-driven approach of a business.
The Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) is the national membership organization and key catalyst for the rapidly growing social enterprise movement in the United States. SEA provides social enterprises with the resources they need to succeed, support and grow social entrepreneurship on a national scale and serve as a voice for more sustainable social impact.
The SEA has 1,020 Members in 41 States - but only 4 members in Virginia - and one in the Richmond area! There are 16 Chapters nationally but none in Virginia. We aim to change that by meeting the 10 member threshold to organize a chapter that will be based in the Richmond region. By doing so the chapter membership in Virginia will help SEA with expanding its mission to define and grow the social enterprise sector here in our home state.
Please consider joining as an individual ($100/year) or organizational ($350/year) member to support the social enterprise sector in Virginia - or you can support the effort in any of three other ways.
Thank you for taking action and please let us know if you have any questions!
