Familias Reunidas Immigration Bond Fund
The past administration’s anti-immigrant agenda has resulted in an increase in immigrants and asylum seekers being held in ICE immigrant prisons. Some individuals detained qualify to be released on bond (similar to bail in the criminal context), but remain in custody because they cannot afford the high bond amounts.
We activated our network and launched the Familias Reunidas Bond Fund in December 2019 to raise awareness and support those being held in ICE detention centers. As of January 2020, we have helped over 90 immigrants and asylum seekers and raised over $50,000 from donations.
The minimum bond amount is $1,500, but many of those we have helped were given $5,000-$7,500 bonds.
There are still hundreds more that remain detained and we need your help. 100% of your donation will go toward getting someone out of detention and reunited with their families.
Every day a mom spends in detention is a day that her children go without her hugs and affection. Every day that the head of a household is in detention is another day that the family has to wonder how they will pay their rent and put food on the table.
