Learn the Karanas
The karanas, a system of movement reconstructed through the research of Dr Padma Subrahmanyam, is something that will enrich every dancer’s movement vocabulary. After a successful first workshop in March, we’re bringing back regular karana workshops at Navatman to introduce students to these rich movement phrases describing specific body, hip, leg, and arm movements that are unique to the bharatanrityam technique. In this workshop, you will learn 3 new karanas out of the 108 and be given tools on how to integrate them into your own choreography later!
