Honor International Wheelchair Day 2022

International Wheelchair Day Wheelchair Funding Drive

Assist ME is celebrating International Wheelchair Day, March 1, this month.

It is an annual day of events and activities which take place around the World when wheelchair users celebrate the positive impact a wheelchair has on their lives.


Since it was first launched in 2008, celebrations have taken place in Australia, Nepal, Senegal, South Africa, Bangladesh, Pakistan, United Kingdom and United States of America.


Assist ME gave out equipment to 567 patients in 2021, including 253 standard manual wheelchairs and 21 power chairs.

We did not get that many manual wheelchairs donated and so we raised funds to buy about a third of those.

We believe we will need to continue to do that.

So we are celebrating Wheelchair Day by holding a fund drive this month.

This is a wonderful way to honor International Wheelchair Day in our community.  The recipients of these are not wheelchair bound.

The wheelchairs you are in effect giving give them their freedom.
