ABOUT ART SHARE L.A.
Established in 1998, Art Share L.A. is a 501(c)3 that owns and operates a 30,000 square foot mixed-use building - a former textile warehouse built in 1923 - in the heart of the LA's Arts District. Art Share’s mission is to create equitable access and opportunity for artists by providing a creative environment for them to live, work, develop, perform, and exhibit.
HOUSING: Providing 30 affordable lofts relieves working artists of their fear of displacement as they develop their craft into a marketable enterprise.
CREATIVE ECONOMY: Connecting artists to paid opportunities, from selling their visual artwork to public art commissions.
ART SHARING: Providing our 30,000 sq. ft building as a platform for artists to share their work from visual art exhibitions to showcasing performances, we are here to help an artist’s voice be heard.
UPLIFTING LOCAL EMERGING ARTISTS
Art Share L.A. highlights emerging artists through our gallery program. Our Main Gallery and Perimeter Gallery are highly accessible springboards for emerging artists seeking to establish themselves in L.A.'s competitive art world. Our galleries provide a supportive environment for artists to sustain a career in the arts.
In 2022, Art Share L.A. presented 221 artists across 11 exhibitions in our galleries, including the shows Products of Empire, There from Here, Rainbow Shift, and L.A. Abstracted. Your support helps Art Share uplift emerging L.A. artists.
FIGHTING FOR AFFORDABLE ARTIST HOUSING AND RELIEF
In 2000, our building became the only 100% affordable housing building in the Arts District. For the past two decades, Art Share L.A. has provided 30 affordable housing units, helping to keep artists in the Arts District without fear of displacement due to rising housing costs. We are committed to combining an affordable place to live with an inspiring place to create and build community.

CREATING PATHWAYS FOR CREATIVE CAREERS
Art Share not only shares artists' work within our building but within the community as well. This year our creative career program connected 29 artists to paying opportunities from curation to off-site exhibitions, and from leading workshops to creating murals. Art Share advocates for artists to make a living wage while beautifying our city with art activations. This year Art Share’s highlight includes connecting 4 artists to an opportunity to create murals for the new Truly location located within the Art District community.
Art Share’s partnership with Angel City Brewery has expanded our capacity to create opportunities for LA artists. Through our partnership with Angel City, we have continued to commission 4 artists a year to create a label for the company's limited supply specialty beer.
Since reopening, our Angel City curator program has been able to help 14 aspiring curators to organize their own show with unique themes featuring emerging artists. This helps the curator develop their professional portfolio while being paid for their skills.

NURTURING ARTIST COMMUNITIES AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Art Share has continued to grow our professional development series, Creative Exchange. Creative Exchange is an initiative in collaboration with the Center for Business & Management of the Arts at Claremont Graduate University (CGU) that seeks to connect, support, and highlight LA’s creative community. In recognizing the diversity and dynamism of our region’s creative sector, the Creative Exchange will encourage discussion and knowledge-sharing between established and emerging artists of all mediums, as well as our cultural organizations, curators, thought leaders, and supporters of the creative community at large
Each session, artists walk away with tangible skills such as artist statements, installation and framing tips, transitioning into NFTs, contract development, artist taxes, and more. We plan to expand our partnerships with institutions such as Claremont Graduate School and local galleries allowing us to bring experts from various fields to share tips and skills with our artists.
Art Share L.A.’s Creative Exchange program encourages discussion between established and emerging artists, as well as engaging professionals within the creative community at large. Your support will help Art Share L.A. grow our professional development series and help emerging artists develop their skills.
PROVIDING AFFORDABLE SPACES TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTED
Located in the heart of the Arts District, our 30,000 sq ft warehouse provides multi-functional creative and unique rental spaces from film screenings to concerts and lectures to workshops. Art Share prioritizes supporting emerging, underrepresented, and artists and event producers committed to building an inclusive artist community. We are committed to supporting the artistic community keeping budget and rehearsal needs in mind with flexible rates.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: BUILDING FUTURE ARTS LEADERS
Art Share L.A. has had the privilege to host Los Angeles' next art leaders through the LA County Arts Internship Program (AIP) and the AmeriCorps program; Public Allies. While the Los Angeles art community is recovering from hardship and losses, our interns have brought fresh perspectives while helping to build our capacity to support artists. Our team has valued serving as mentors to our future leaders in the non-profit arts sector. Thank you Stephanie Gordian, Teagan Kowitz, and Ree Magaña, Janai Valentine and Christina Gonzales for being part of our team!
